Canes nominees outshine Stars – Staal has hat trick, Brindy takes league assist lead

Staal hat trick keys Saturday win over Stars

Carolina Hurricanes all-star nominees Eric Staal, Rod Brind’Amour and Cam Ward outshone the Dallas Stars Saturday night at the RBC Center. The Hurricanes took over first place in the Southeast Division, and are second in the Eastern Conference.  

Staal recorded his third career hat trick, moving him into 6th place on the league’s goal leaders list with 13 markers.

Brind’Amour leads league in assists and points 

Rod Brind’Amour notched a helper in the first period, moving him into the league lead in assists and points

Ward picks up 11th win, 3rd in league 

Netminder Ward’s 11th win of the season placed him 3rd in that category.

Cole tallies, moves to 13th

All-star nomineee Erik Cole also tallied an assist in the game, moving him to 13th place in assists with 15 on the season.
