NHL fixes all-star voting write-in glitch

November 27, 2006

The NHL has fixed a glitch in the voting system for the NHL all-star game that allowed voters to vote a full slate and then also write in an Eastern and Western conference player (in fact, you HAD to vote a full slate in order to write in a candidate.)  The system was down for a while this evening for reprogramming, now when you use the write-in pull down menu, it voids one of your voting slots and places the name of the write-in candidate in one of the regular slots (which is how it should have been programmed to begin with)

Also, in IE and Firefox, in order to vote multiple times without rekeying in all your voting selections, after voting you can hit “back”, then “reload”, and type in the new security word at the bottom of the ballot before submitting again.

Remember to vote Rod Brind’Amour, Erik Cole, and Eric Staal for Eastern conference forwards, and Cam Ward for Eastern Conference goalie. You can cast votes every day during the voting period.

Ds in the East – Let’s make a deal?

November 18, 2006

I’ve gotten a few suggestions on voting for Eastern Conference defensemen, since the Canes have no nominees in that category. There are five Eastern Conference teams (Boston-Chara, Florida-Bouwmeester, Montreal-Souray, Islanders-Zhitnik, and Tampa-Boyle) that have NO goalie nominee and just one defenseman on the all-star ballot. Should Canes fans be voting for Dmen for two of those teams in hopes that fans of those teams will vote for Cam Ward for goalie? Anyone post on a Bruins, Panthers, Habs, Isles, or Bolts board that wants to weigh in on this?

Some Canes fans are writing in Dmen from our team, but the chance of someone winning on a write in are quite remote.
